In Memory of Richard Nye

Richard Nye, passed away peacefully, with his wife at his side, in Arizona on Saturday November 18, 2017. He was 80 years old.


Richard was born on July 9, 1937 in Cedar Rapids. He married Jeanne Finlayson in 1956 and after two years of Army service, he returned home where he worked for the Quaker Oats Company for over 30 years.

After Jeanne’s death in 2003, het met and married Anne (Hoffmann) of Omaha NE. After 11 years of building a fused glass art business together, he and Anne moved to Coolidge AZ to help start the Artisan Village of Coolidge.


Richard was active in his church, led Royal Ranger groups, taught motorcycle safety courses and loved to travel. He enjoyed fixing and building things and was always available to lend a helping hand.

Richard is survived by his wife Anne; his children, Val Beer of Cedar Rapids and Rick Nye of Minneapolis; and three grandchildren and two great grandchildren whom he loved dearly.


A memorial service will be held at a later date at First Assembly of God, Cedar Rapids IA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Artisan Village of Coolidge, 351 N. Arizona Blvd., Coolidge AZ 85128
