What is Lapidary?

A Lapidary (or lapidarist) is an artisan who forms stone, mineral, gemstones into decorative items such as engraved gems, including cameos, or cabochons, and faceted designs, or who is an expert in precious stones; and can be a collector of or dealer in gems.

Lapidary isn't just for adults. We have a Junior Lapidarist Program that will open the eyes of our children to the beauty within our native stone. The children will work under close supervision of the Lapidary Staff.

The joy of the lapidarist is to unvale the beauty within the rough stones.
